I moved to Bristol from London to complete a BSc degree in Psychology and Health Science. After this I spent most of my 20s saving up money and travelling. I travelled extensively through remote Asia by bicycle. This was a challenging experience and I look back on these adventures with fondness. In my late 20s I decided to settle down and work in mental health as a psychiatric nurse. I have since worked in a variety of settings but most of my experience has been working in crisis teams where I worked with people who were acutely unwell and at the peak of their distress. Although I value this work, I felt the need to work with people on a much deeper level to really effect change.
I have always been fascinated about the big questions in life such as who are we? What is the real nature of our existence and what constitutes a good life? I found answers to these questions in Tibetan Buddhism and have subsquently been practicing in an authentic lineage for many years. More recently, I have discovered parallels to the Buddhist view in Jungian psychology, the Romantic poets such as William Blake and in Greek philosophy. My current passion is combine these different wisdom traditions in a way that is applicable to life in the modern world and, by extension, my psychotherapy practice.
Core Process Psychotherapy is the perfect model for my innate sensibilities because it is a model that encompasses the full spectrum of what it is to be human. Unlike the medical model employed by the NHS, it is a completely non-pathological approach that recognises our innate beauty and ground of goodness. I currently feel blessed to work with people in a way that is congruent with my core beliefs. I am able to combine my passions with a vocation and honestly love my work. I am truly fascinated by everyone I work with.
I currently live with my family in south Bristol. I have two children, a dog, a cat, two goldfish and a long suffering, wonderful wife. In my spare time I like mountain biking, spending time in nature and reading.
