Integrating the personal daimon into psychotherapy.
Here, I outline a model of therapy that incorporates the ancient myth of the personal daimon or spirit guide. This infuses Buddhist, Jungian and Neoplatonic perspectives. I have found this approach to be very fruitful in my own enquiry and it is an outline of the model I work with.
Suicidal thoughts
This is an article I wrote for the Counselling Directory website. Assessing and working with suicide is something I have a lot of experience with in my role as a mental health nurse in the NHS. It is my aim to bring this knowledge base into my private psychotherapy practice.
The Spells we are under.
In this blog I explore the notion of spells as unconscious stories or narratives that shape our lived experience. Our culture and society distorts the way we perceive ourselves and the world. Psychotherapy necessitates re-aligning ourselves with the truth of who we are.
On finding meaning and purpose.
This is an article I wrote for counselling directory. In it I outline James Hillmans Acorn theory of Soul and how this is a useful myth that can be applied to psychotherapy to find meaning in our distress. I stress that each one of us has our own unique calling to fulfil, lessons to learn and image to grow into.
